AliExpress Ships From USA: How to Find US-Warehouse Products on AliExpress and Alibaba, and Check Your Profit Before You Import
AliExpress ships from USA: set the US warehouse filter, then check each variant's item cost, US shipping and profit at your price before you import.
You searched "AliExpress ships from USA" because your buyers are in the USA and you want the parcel to start there too. So you set the filter and open a dozen tabs, copying prices into a spreadsheet next to the price you plan to charge. The spreadsheet says the product works.
Then the first order arrives. The US warehouse shipping quote lands on top of the item cost, and the order keeps less than the spreadsheet promised. Sometimes it keeps nothing. You change the price after buyers have already seen it, and by the next product the spreadsheet is wrong again.
Every guide that answers that search hands you the same two moves: set Ship from to United States, then a one-line warning that US stock eats your margin. Ask in the Shopify Community and the replies are app names. Nobody shows you the number per variant, at your price, before the product reaches your store. That number is the point of this article: first by hand, then in DS-Mate. If you are at the very start, our guide to starting a dropshipping business covers the store side; this one is about sourcing.
The short answer
To find AliExpress products that ship from the USA, set the Ship from filter to United States, then check each variant's item cost plus the US shipping quote against your own sale price before you import. On AliExpress, Ships From is often a variant option on the listing itself, so one listing can hold both US-stocked and China-stocked variants, and the check is per variant. In DS-Mate, Find Products has the same Ship from filter for AliExpress on every plan and for Alibaba on Starter and Growth, and the Import Product page then shows each variant's Item cost and Profit at your price before the product reaches your store, with the shipping quote taken off for AliExpress products.
Why does ship-from matter when your buyers are in the US?
A product stocked in a US warehouse ships as a domestic parcel. Your buyer gets a tracking number from a US carrier and the parcel crosses no border. Nothing about the order says overseas to the person waiting for it. That is what a US buyer expects from a US-facing store, and on one channel it is close to a rule: TikTok Shop's own Seller University guidance on Seller Shipping asks US sellers who ship their own orders to upload valid tracking in Seller Center, from a domestic shipment. On Shopify, WooCommerce and eBay the question after the sale is what the order actually cost, next to what the channel paid you.
The catch is price. US-warehouse stock usually costs more than the same item shipped from China, and the US shipping quote is a second number that sits on top of the item cost. A sale price that looked comfortable on the listing can stop working once that quote lands. The guides say so in a sentence and move on. The arithmetic is what they skip, so here it is, with illustrative numbers rather than anyone's real ones.
Say a variant's item cost is $10 and its US warehouse shipping quote is $8. A 30% markup on the item cost gives a sale price of $13. Sale price minus item cost minus shipping is $13 minus $10 minus $8, which is minus $5. The listing looked fine. At that markup the variant loses money on every order. The fix is a higher price or a different variant, and either is a cheap decision before you import and an expensive one after a buyer has seen the price. For a Shopify-plus-eBay seller doing 100 orders a week, that is a hundred chances a week to learn the number the hard way.
The filter hides one more thing. On AliExpress, Ships From is often an option on the listing, next to Color or Size. A listing that passes the United States filter can still hold variants that ship from China, and the US-stocked variants can carry a different item cost and a different shipping quote. So the check is per variant, never per listing.
How to do it in DS-Mate: find products that ship from the USA
The method above works with a spreadsheet and patience. In DS-Mate it is three steps, and the line that sums them up is this one: Find products on AliExpress and Alibaba that ship from the USA, and see your profit at your price before you import.
Open Find Products in the sidebar. The supplier picker sits in the top bar and holds AliExpress and Alibaba. It is a single choice: each search covers one supplier, so pick one and type what you are looking for. AliExpress search is on every plan, including Free. Alibaba search needs Starter or Growth; on Free the picker shows Alibaba with "(Upgrade to Starter)" after its name and you cannot select it.
In the filter sidebar, Ship from starts at Any Warehouse. Set it to United States. Each AliExpress card then shows the price, a "+ $x shipping" line when AliExpress returns a quote for that item, the order count and a ships-from badge. The results sort by Best Match, popularity or price. Nothing on a card is a margin or a profit, because that number depends on a price you have not set yet.
Alibaba behaves differently, and you should know that before you search it. An Alibaba card shows a "from" price with the note "Priced by quantity tier, since your cost depends on how many you buy." It shows no shipping quote and no ships-from badge. With Ship from set to United States, most Alibaba results ship from a US warehouse, but not all, so open the listing (the eye icon, View details, opens it on the supplier's site in another browser tab) and confirm the warehouse on the product page before you go on.

Check the cost, shipping and your profit at your price
On a card, click Add to Store. The Add Product to Stores dialog opens ("Select the stores you want to publish this product to."). Tick the store the product is going to and click Add to 1 Store. The Import Product page opens.
This page replaces the spreadsheet. In the variants table, each row shows Item cost, Shipping (the AliExpress quote for that variant), Qty where the channel needs one, Sale price and Profit, with Profit in green or red. In the Cost Summary card, Default Markup (%) starts at 30 and applies to each variant's supplier price; the card's rows are Supplier Price, Markup, Selling Price and Margin before shipping. Type a different markup, or edit one variant's Sale price by hand, and that variant keeps your price when the markup changes.
Read the note under the table, because it is the honest definition of the number: "Profit is sale price minus item cost and shipping. Sales tax is not included." This Profit takes off the item cost and, for an AliExpress product, the shipping quote. It does not take off your channel's fees, payment fees or sales tax. It is a pre-listing number at your price, and that is exactly what this moment needs: it answers whether the variant works at the price you plan to charge, before any buyer sees that price.
Two things to expect. First, Profit can be negative. The demo screen below shows a US warehouse shipping quote larger than the variant's sale price at the default markup, which is the whole reason to look at this page before you import rather than after the first order. Second, an Alibaba product has no Shipping column, and the note changes to "Profit is sale price minus item cost. Shipping and sales tax are not included." For Alibaba, the shipping is yours to add from the listing before you trust the number.
If none of the product's variants ship from the country you filtered to, Import Product greys out with "No variants ship from the selected country" and a banner offers Show all variants as the way out. Otherwise the Ships From option on the Import Product page, with United States selected, is the easiest way to see which variants are the US-stocked ones.

Import it, then read what the order kept
When the numbers hold, click Import Product. The product is not in your store at once: the result arrives in the notification bell, and the product appears on Products once the channel sync has written it. The same dialog imports to a Shopify, WooCommerce, eBay, TikTok Shop, Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, Temu or SHEIN store. For TikTok Shop the page asks for a TikTok Shop Category, and your TikTok Shop needs at least one warehouse set up in Seller Center.
Then a sale happens, and the number changes meaning. On Starter and Growth, when a Shopify, WooCommerce or eBay order comes in for a product whose variants are linked to the AliExpress supplier, DS-Mate waits out the order's Protection Window (6 hours by default; each store can set its own length) and then places the AliExpress order and pays for it from your service credits, as long as the store's Auto-pay with credits switch is on (it is by default). When the supplier ships, DS-Mate sends the tracking number to the order on your store once a carrier in your buyer's country has the parcel.
The order page then shows Supplier Cost and Profit. Under each item's Financial Details, once the supplier is paid, Supplier Cost lists what was billed: Item cost, Shipping, Taxes & fees, a Subtotal, Payment processing fees, DS-Mate processing fees and the total. The order's Profit is what the channel pays you for it, after the channel's fees when the channel reports them, minus that billed supplier cost. It is blank until the supplier order is placed, it can be negative, and on a marketplace whose fees post weeks later it stays an estimate until they settle. Shopify reports fees only for Shopify Payments.
Keep the two numbers apart in your head. The Import Product page's Profit is a pre-listing number at your price, with no fees in it. The order's Profit is the after-sale number: what your channel paid minus what the supplier order cost. The first one decides whether to list. The second one tells you whether the first one was right.
Three cases where the order does not pay itself, straight from the Help Center: when the store uses your own AliExpress or Alibaba account, when your credit balance does not cover the order, and when the supplier now charges more than your customer paid. In the last case the order pauses with "Paused: this order would lose money" and nothing is charged. It is the import page's question, asked again at sale time. The order also waits for you when the store's Auto-pay with credits switch is off, and, past your monthly order allowance, when your balance does not also cover your plan's per order rate. For the rest of the Shopify order flow, Shopify AliExpress automation: import, order and track walks it end to end.
What else changes once the product is in your store?
Three short things the steps above leave out.
A backup supplier per variant. On the product's Linked tab, Add backup supplier gives a variant one backup. DS-Mate uses it only when the AliExpress primary cannot be bought for that order, because it is out of stock or not offered for the destination country, and only for that order. A listing that is already in your store gets its supplier link on the same product page, from the Unlinked tab of Variants, which how to link an existing Amazon listing to an AliExpress supplier walks through for Amazon.
Labels for what you ship yourself. On Starter and Growth, the order page has a Shipping label card for items you ship from your own address on Shopify, Amazon merchant fulfilled, eBay, WooCommerce and Walmart. You pick a rate, pay with service credits or a card, and print. It is not offered on AliExpress orders or on TikTok Shop. The label's cost shows on that card ("Charged $x") and is not in the order's Profit. Sending the tracking number to the channel is a button on the same card, Send tracking to {channel}; it does not happen on its own.
Your own US stock. If you keep stock in a US 4PX (Cainiao) warehouse on your own 4PX account, Starter and Growth can connect it under Settings > Suppliers > Connect Supplier > 4PX (Cainiao). DS-Mate sends each order on a linked variant to that warehouse. 4PX bills your own 4PX account, and DS-Mate charges nothing for the goods or the shipping. A 4PX order still counts toward your plan's monthly order allowance; past it, your plan's per order rate for your own supplier account is taken from your service credits.
Plans, for the record: Free is $0 for one store and 30 orders a month. Starter is $19.90 a month for 2 stores and 100 orders. Growth is $39.90 a month for 5 stores and 250 orders. Past the allowance, Starter and Growth charge a small per order rate.
FAQ
How do I find AliExpress products that ship from the USA for dropshipping?
Set the Ship from filter to United States, then open each listing and check which variants ship from the US, because Ships From is often a variant option. For every US-stocked variant, write down the item cost and the US shipping quote and subtract both from the price you plan to charge. In DS-Mate, Find Products applies the same filter and the Import Product page does that subtraction per variant at your markup before you import.
Does Alibaba have a ship-from-USA filter?
In DS-Mate, yes: pick Alibaba in the supplier picker (Starter and Growth) and set Ship from to United States. Most results then ship from a US warehouse, but not all, and Alibaba cards show no shipping quote or ships-from badge, so confirm the warehouse on the product page. Alibaba prices are quantity-tiered, so the "from" price on the card may not be the price you pay.
Why does US warehouse stock cost more, and how do I know if my price still works?
The item usually costs more than the same product shipped from China, and the US shipping quote is added on top. Your price still works if sale price minus item cost minus that shipping quote leaves a number you can accept after your channel's fees. Check it per variant before you list: a default markup applied to the item cost alone can leave the shipping quote uncovered.
Does the Profit on DS-Mate's Import Product page include channel fees or sales tax?
No. The page's own note reads "Profit is sale price minus item cost and shipping. Sales tax is not included." For AliExpress products the shipping quote is taken off; for Alibaba products it is not, because Alibaba returns no quote. Channel fees and payment fees come off later, on the order's Profit after the sale.
Can I import a product that ships from the USA to Shopify and TikTok Shop at the same time?
From one Add Product to Stores dialog you can tick several stores on the same channel, and one import page sends one set of edits and one price to all of them. Stores on different channels cannot be ticked in the same dialog, so a product going to a Shopify store and a TikTok Shop store is two imports, each with its own price check.
After the sale, does DS-Mate place the AliExpress order on its own?
On Starter and Growth, for a Shopify, WooCommerce or eBay order whose items are linked to the AliExpress supplier: yes, after the order's Protection Window, paid from your service credits, as long as the store's Auto-pay with credits switch is on (it is by default). It does not pay on its own when the store uses your own AliExpress or Alibaba account, when your balance is short, or when the supplier now charges more than your customer paid. Free has no automatic payment; every order waits for you to pay for it.
The one thing to remember
The supplier tab shows an item price. Your order keeps sale price minus item cost minus the US shipping quote, before your channel's fees. Check that number per variant, at your own price, before the product reaches your store, whether you do it in a spreadsheet or on the Import Product page, and the first order stops surprising you.
See how DS-Mate handles this. If your store is on Shopify, DS-Mate is also on the Shopify App Store.
